There are a few mug cake cookbooks on the market right now. The reason I chose this one was because the recipes were simpler than others (no butter or eggs). I tried the chocolate mug cake in the book preview and it was delicious! It tasted more like a brownie than a chocolate cake but tasty nonetheless. Since I don’t like my cakes too sweet, I modified the recipe simply by adding less chocolate. If you go on Kirbie’s Cravings (author’s blog), you can check out a bunch of her other mug cake recipes if you’re still on the fence about purchasing this. Lots of easy recipes with pretty pictures; I spent hours sifting through her posts! I can tell the author has put a lot of thought into creating the recipes for both her blog and this cookbook so I’m always happy to support such commitment. The book is flexibound so it’s paperback, but it’s of very high quality. The flexibound also means that you can lay the book down flat and refer back to it when you’re baking. The pages are colorful and include lots of high resolution photos. I can’t wait to start making more mug cakes, especially the savory ones!
