Whether you’re feeding your extended family on a Sunday night or heading over to the neighbor’s annual block party, Cook’s Country comes to the rescue with an impressive collection of recipes offering dishes fit for every kind of crowd.
I love this cookbook! I have made several recipes and they have all turned out excellent. I am thankful for the shopping tips with insight on which brands of ingredients are preferred for the recipes and when and what to substitute if you can’t find an item. The step by step instructions are well written and easy to follow. I really appreciate the Slow Cooker chapter along with tips on shopping for a slow cooker and traveling with a slow cooker. The recipes work great for potlucks, family dinners or parties. The ultimate seven-layer dip and the strawberry poke cake are the best I’ve ever tasted. The cheesy au gratin potatoes were not only easy to make, but a joy to serve and eat. The lay-flat binding, hard-bound exterior with spiral bound interior, stays conveniently open on the counter. Cooks Country Best and Cook’s Illustrated The Best cookbooks are my favorite, go-to cookbooks. I’ve made several recipes from many of these cookbooks, including meatloaf, shephards pie, and pan roasted chicken with cherry tomatoes and artichoke hearts, and have never been disappointed. The recipes are thoroughly explained and never leave you confused. I would recommend them to novices or expert level home chefs alike.
When I attend a potluck, I always want my contribution to be stand-out. This book is full of wonderful recipes. This is one of those cookbooks that I would have liked to have seen with a photo for every recipe (even a small one) just because presentation is also important for potluck table appeal. There are quite a few photos, but I would have liked that one reference. If you have other ATK cookbooks, you will find some duplication, but this is well organized and as always with ATK, they explain why the steps and ingredients are important.
I checked this cookbook out from the library & loved it so much I had to have my own copy. There are so many good, healthy, quality recipes that are not just for pot lucks but could be used for every day family meals as well. I just love it. I love amazon.com too. I check amazon for anything I buy before I buy it anywhere else! You’ll love this cookbook!
