About the Author

Becky is a food photographer, recipe developer, and cookbook author who shares creative paleo and gluten-free recipes on her blog, A Calculated Whisk. Becky’s first cookbook, Paleo Planet, is available for preorder now and includes internationally-inspired paleo meals, desserts, sauces, spice blends, and more. Becky enjoys searing short ribs, chopping chocolate, photographing fruit, and salting desserts. She believes there is never enough bacon. Becky lives in Chattanooga with her fiancé and his cat.

We are really only eating paleo casually / occasionally, and to this point (since discovering a copy in the library a couple months ago, then promptly buying our own copy), we’ve only made a handful of recipes out of this book. But each of those has been a total winner, and something we’ve either ended up making multiple times because of the easy-to-delicious ratio, or have plans to make multiple times in the future because of the easy-to-delicious ratio. The Moroccan beef recipe alone is worth the price of admission (and adapts very well to the Instant Pot, and also goes really well with cauliflower rice) – we’ve made that one about four times now. It’s still whoa-level, I-know-my-wife-will-be-asking-me-to-make-this-again-in-a-week-or-so delicious every time. Honestly, this cookbook is worth having whether or not you’re eating paleo. It’s an ambitious, diverse, great little assortment of internationally-styled cuisine with easy-to-find ingredients that are also pretty simple and fast to make, and so far Becky Winkler hasn’t steered us wrong once in the flavor department.
This is a great book for those interested in a Paleo nutrition, or even someone like me, who simply enjoys the Paleo approach a few times per week. In fact, one of the things I love about her book is that she says exactly that – you don’t have to be Paleo 100% of the time (and turn into one of those annoying nutritional preachers), to gain some benefits of the system. Anyway, the book is a pleasure to read, great photos, very beautiful layout, a short description of each recipe, estimation of time that it takes to prepare… I am a follower of her blog, A Calculated Whisk, for a long time, and the recipes in the book have the quality and creativity I learned to expect from her. I intend to write a review of the book and share a recipe in my own food blog, but for the moment I wanted to leave a two thumbs up for this cookbook! Get it and you won’t be disappointed….
This cookbook is seriously underrated! I have ~20 cookbooks, ~15 of which are Paleo/whole30 and this one is my favorite (tied with Nom Nom Paleo)! This book is very diverse and well-rounded. The Moroccan beef with apricots and dates is my favorite recipe in this book! Asbsolutelt delicious! I’ve made it many times on the stove and instant pot with beef and lamb. The indochinese Chile chicken, spicy pecan chicken, Thai basil pork, and bi bim Banh bowl are really good. I love the layout of this book. Each section is color coded and every recipe has a picture.
