I have diabetes all over in my family, so I was NOT surprised when my doc decided to assume I had gestational diabetes right from the start of my pregnancy. However, both my mom and her dad don’t take good care of themselves, so I didn’t have any good role models for what I should be eating. I knew what NOT to eat…but not what I should focus on instead. The nurse that spoke with me (NOT a nutritionist) was way off in her diet recommendations, this book helped me eat again! I sat and read it in just a few days, it has great advice and was easy to understand. I don’t generally use it as a reference, but I’m glad I read it early on.
I knew nothing about type 2 diabetes when I was diagnoised with it 3 weeks ago. I was sent home with very little information from my doctor other than the damage it can cause to my body and health. I was scared to eat anything because I didn’t know what to eat. I got on Amazon.com and ordered 4 books. Of the 4 books I ordered, this book was extremely helpful. I am starting to see my glucose levels come down. And feeling a little more relaxed. I highly recommend this book.
