About the Author

Allysa Torey and Jennifer Appel are the founders of the Magnolia Bakery in New York City. In 1999 Jennifer Appel left to open Buttercup Bake Shop, which has two locations in Manhattan, where she resides with her husband and daughter. Allysa Torey lives with her son Wilson Henry in upstate New York, where she spends her time writing, cooking, gardening, and taking long walks through the hayfields with her collies Sam, Daisy, and Honey.

I lived in NY for 5 years and I would always go to Magnolia Bakery Radio City Music Hall whenever I was in that area, particularly for the banana pudding. It’s seriously the best banana pudding in the world. So when I moved away I started to crave it and so I bought the cookbook and made it for myself. It made a huge amount (which was fine with me) and tasted exactly like what I used to get at the bakery. I’ve tried quite a few recipes from this cookbook and they always come out really good. There is some great information on ingredients and the baking process too. It’s my go to cookbook for baked goods now.
