About the Author
Cherise Grifoni, a full-blown vegetarian for seven years, recently converted to veganism after discovering dairy products were causing her migraine headaches. A member of the vegan cooking club at New York University, where she is a senior, Cherise blogs about her adventures in eating at www.yourveganzombie.blogspot.com.
First of all, I’m not a full-time vegan, but as I have a dairy allergy I love checking out vegan cookbooks for new dairy-free ideas. Most of these books have to be taken with a grain of salt as they impose all kinds of crazy morals from atop their high-horses. However I found The Part-Time Vegan to be a welcoming introduction to vegan cooking that didn’t make me feel like the spawn of Satan for owning a leather purse or for eating a giant hamburger on occasion. The author’s writing style speaks to a new generation of healthy eaters who don’t take themselves too seriously and who are more concerned with their bodies needs than restricting and sometimes self-righteous dogmas. In fact I found the freedom this book gave me to eat animal products when my body requested them actually lessened my cravings and helped me to make healthier choices rather than grumpily adhering to dietary restrictions. I give this book two thumbs up and five stars for being a lighthearted, non-threatening, and fun approach to veganism!
anyone who is looking to cut back on their consumption of animal protein will find this cookbook inspiring ! –
I ordered this book early on a Sunday evening and it arrived early afternoon on the next day. I was astounded how quickly it came. I have loved the recipes. Before, it was difficult to find good-tasting vegan food. Now, I just make my own variety of foods I have missed for awhile. Thank you to the author for seeing a need and for the seller for getting it to me so quickly.
