I have been waiting to write this review more than six months. Was lucky enough to have been chosen for the REVVED test group back in the summer of 2014. As a 52 year old woman who never had a weight problem, I was shocked when a few years ago my weight started to creep up. Suddenly, my clothes weren’t fitting and I was 20 pounds over what I always thought was my “high” number on the scale. Decided to take the bull by the horns and begin an intense cardio regime, which was what I had successfully done in the past. No luck. So next, I decided to cut out most carbs which worked for a very short period of time, but when I went back to even carefully eating carbs, gained all the weight back. My friend and I did a cleanse together, which was another temporary fix, but once I started eating solid food, all the weight came back once again. An acquaintance told me that Jim Karas was looking for people to be part of at test group. Since I am located in Chicago, I wrote in and was chosen. Diligently following the program, to my surprise I lost 15 pounds in 28 days and was not miserable! An additional 5 came off in the next 2 weeks. This book is a fast read and provides invaluable information. We all know you must work out and eat well to lose weight. The premise of this book is yes, eat healthy, but make sure you increase and maintain your muscle mass as well so that you constantly burn calories–not just when you work out. The emphasis is on weight training and less on cardio (although the heart is a muscle, too). The author is on to something as I have lost weight almost immediately and I am in my 50’s!
