Dreaming Big Publications "MY REVIEW 5 stars.  I hate to overuse a tired cliché, but I would label this book a "must read" for anyone wanting to make some permanent and lasting changes in their life.  Dr. Heskett has captured the essence of what I, as a therapist, try to impart to my patients every day -that change is a process and a commitment and not something that happens overnight.  She also emphasizes the importance of having a balance in life, and that the body works as a whole system and when one part is out of whack, it can affect everything else.  The same goes for emotional and mental well being, and I stress to my patients all the time that to be balanced there are several different areas in their life that they need to focus on nurturing.  The problem is that people usually only pick one, maybe two areas to throw all their efforts into and they neglect the rest.

Many people try crash diets and try the pills and the fancy shakes, and maybe even add an exercise routine, but then give up when it seems that nothing works. This books breaks it down in simple to understand terms and fully explains all the changes and all the efforts that are needed to get healthy, lose weight, and see a permanent lifestyle change rather than yo-yo dieting. "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED – one of the best books I have ever read. I almost never give a book 5 stars, it has to be really something special to get this rating from me. And this is just that kind of book. It came in the mail and I normally am so busy I don't even look at a book right away because I know that I won't be able to read it. I was at the dining room table, sitting across from my husband, and kept reading more and more of it to him. It just make so much sense to me.

Let me start out by saying that not only am I out of shape, I am also a Buddhist. So, to find a book that looks at more than just diet was very important. And,the author tells you there is no reason to give up anything, there are things you can add to your favorite foods to make them healthier and make you fuller in the process.

The way the books is written is very easy to follow and doesn't dump everything on you at one time. She eases you into her method and it just all flows and makes so much sense, at least to me. I started my morning with some warm lemon water, the first things she discusses. And many things I had heard of before but some I was extremely intrigued by. Like dry brushing your body and laying with your feet in the air at night – trust me, this is something you need to read about."

I am often times skeptical of books such as this one, it claims that you can lose 20 pounds and reverse the aging process while also changing your life. The Well Path by Jamé Heskett, M.D. is a book that tells you more than the fact that you CAN do something, it also tells you how your body scientifically works so that you understand why your body does the things that it does, and by doing so, you can understand how to lose weight and create better balance with in your body and life.This book is a week by week pathway to getting thinner, feeling better, and reversing the signs of aging. First the book goes into detail about how our bodies work, why our metabolism may slow down, how our hormones can change our bodies. Then the book tells us how our bodies signal hunger, how to use that to our advantage and how to eat the right foods to create a good "gut".
Once you have the cornerstone for that, it takes us into a week by week set up of what to do and what to eat to feel better. The thing with this book is that it doesn't give you a strict diet to adhere to, instead it gives you a very simple goal for the week. Week ones goal is to drink 8 ounces of warm water with lemon,get more sleep and turn off television an hour before bed, seems easy right? It's a wonderful idea, and I am going to adopt this for the 8week period ( I haven't had the book that long yet), and see what my progress is after the 8 weeks. I don't honestly plan on setting a goal weight or anything I just want to feel better and have more energy.
I like this book because it's telling me basically who what when where and why about my body. It doesn't leave much to question, and it seems like an easy path to take part in. It's not a diet, it's just a road to a simpler, more balanced life style. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. I love that there are places to write in it, and it's not overbearing." Comfy Reading
